I've heard about possibility to lease a truck from another company for a single trip.
Does anyone know if a single trip lease - leasing a truck of another carrier (running under another USDOT number and insurance) to pull a load under my USDOT number, is possible and how.
Safe travels everyone!

In the 1990s they used trip leases to move a load and when you turned in the signed bill they paid you or your co. but those days are gone now its all broker loads?
Bean Jr. and DechkoTzar Thank this. -
That's how it was all done in the old days. Trip lease, pita, because you physically, legally had to go sign the lease in person, and they would copy your info. That's why truckstops used to be filled with agents offices, broker buildings. No computers, internet, cell phones, fax's,etc. You would get a lease,a paper door sign, and go load!
If they still do that now,I have no idea. I guess you could.Last edited: Feb 21, 2018

They don't do it anymore. Carriers need to do background checks and pre employment screening. Too much work for one trip.

I had some trouble with a trip/lease that made me have to pay GA. a 25$ fine for not having the fuel sticker in their name, but I just forgot to flip over the T/L name on steel plate I had wing nut holding on to step under door, but the other side was good dot off. asked if I had extra paper door sign with me and after I paid fine all was good, You could pay your way out of a lot things on the spot and no one would be the wiser?
DechkoTzar Thanks this. -
Did I understamd you well: you were pulling load for another company (not your dot but someone else's dot) and got a ticket because the IFTA sticker didn't match the company that the load was assigned to?
Or you had signs (company decals) that didn't match with the IFTA stickers?Bean Jr. Thanks this.
