Hello. I have my dot physical this week and I read that they do a kidney screen. I have an autoimmune disease that effects the kidneys but it’s pretty benign and does not effect my ability to operate a motor vehicle. My specialist also has it well under control. Would they fail me for the physical for this?

How would they know about it unless you tell them?

Good luck on the physical.

I do take medication for it. I take medication to control the blood pressure. But when medicated, I am below 120/80

So basically, if the screen comes up good and my blood pressure is good, what they don’t know won’t hurt? It’s not like my blood pressure meds will show up on the drug test
Chinatown Thanks this. -
BP Medicine will cause the DOT doctor to evaluate you the same as if you have a mild increase in pressure. You are at risk of only getting a three month cert.
