the big thing isn't so much replacing things on a scedual but just keeping a close eye on things and replacing them at the first signs of wear rather than waiting for a failure. keep a eye on things like hoses chafing and like say as soon as you see the first sign of wetness around the weep hole on your water pump. oil samples may indicate internal engine problems before they become a problem.
regular oil changes, greasing your truck yourself on a regular basis. helps catch problems early, your under your truck hands on getting a close look at everything. belts and air dryers at least bi annually every year is better. walk around your truck every time you stop. kick the tires or put cat eyes on. peer underneath for signs of wheel seal leaks/breaks ect.Dino soar, AModelCat, HalpinUout and 2 others Thank this. -
For me its been wiring, pretty much a different section every other week it seems. Always fun chasing where the broken part is. This winter has been pretty tough on the old girl and the frost heaves beat them to death.

I understand it’s a truck to truck scenario but what are the recommendations
Like air dryer cartridge it’s recommended every 100,000 to switch out
It’s recommended to check your hoses regularly for any leaks and to fix or replace
It’s recommended to watch your water pump from 500,000 to 600,000 miles
It’s recommended to get an oil change every 15,000-20,000 miles but engines recommend every 35,000 - 50,000 depending on year model
It’s recommended to change your shocks out every 50,000 - 100,000 miles depending on shocks
It’s recommended to pm your dpf system every year
Air governor and hoses attached that lead to compressor purge valve
Air dryer
Air compressor
Alternator
Recommended to watch your turbo 550,000 to 650,000 miles -
It's called preventative maintenance. And more particularly detecting pending failure before it does fail.
The problem with that is sometimes Im told aww it's good, leave it.
A week later it breaks and then I get somehow blamed for it. I finally quit worrying about it. If it breaks we fix it. No one ever wants to spend a penny to save 10 dollars replacing a part approaching failure.
