I have 2 N-14s, one red top and one black top. I’ve heard a lot about they like injectors. I wasn’t trucking in 2001 when the dielsel sulfer was reduced. Did the injectors fail as often pre sulfer reduction as they do now?

If you're asking if they have a reputation for injectors failing. I would say maybe. It seems like some guys went through all kinds of them and others never touched one. Didnt seem to be rhyme or reason for it. A friend who still runs a n-14 swears by Delphi? Injectors. Says whenever he runs other brands they fail. I've been driving CAT powered trucks for 20 years now and replaced two. Maybe I'm lucky not sure. Still a good engine though.

    J.S. Thanks this.

Ive had bad luck with anything but cummins recon. Went threw 4 sets in a N14. Put in cummins recon, they have 400k on them no problems. Also learned not to use aftermarket in a DT internationals the hard way too.

I put a FASS system on and that helped a bunch. Just replaced an injector today. First one in 400,000-500,000 miles. Also I switched to Delphi as well. Recon in USA I heard unlike cummins that is done in Mexico and Brazil. We shall see how it does. Other than that, it’s hit and miss. Wouldn’t trade my red top for anything. And yes this low sulphur fuel and bio fuel is junk and harder on fuel systems

    $382.40 for Delphi
    $350.00 for Delphi from NAPA.
$446.00 for cummins PX. 18 mo warranty
$255.00 for cummins RX. 12 mo warranty

Last year, I spent a lot on injector problems with my M11 and now that they’re all good, I’m running additive with my fuel hoping that will help with bad and bio fuel.
