That is so scary to me because you can be a great truck driver, do everything right, and out of nowhere a gust of wind can come and knock your truck over and BAM - your fired, your career is over, and you have to go find a job in another field. Wow. Reason 7 million why being a truck driver is bad..

That's hilarious. If wind is never the cause of an accident, I guess people that drive i80 would be sitting every other day to prevent a preventable. All it takes is one gust of wind at just the right moment and any of us could roll.

That depends on whether you are loaded or empty. If I had a 46,000 load of canned beans. I wouldn't start worrying until gusts of 45 - 50 were going on. I grew up in west Texas and we drove in high winds all the time out there. They even had a "small persons" alert one time. LOL Also, if you are empty, just slow down! The combined force of wind and speed is what often rolls trucks. Use to chase ternaders too, (NOT IN a SEMI!) got real close a few times but never got picked up or blown off the road.

Now as for the beans and wind gusts. Nah, I won't go there. But hey, that could be construed as a HAZMAT load, after all, they are effectively little cans or cylinders of gas.

 

I always thought trucks were like cows. They sleep standing up.

 

But hey, in the spring, mother nature loves cow tipping!
