I wonder if it’s possible to run those driverless trucks off the road simply by passing them a little too closely.

Another grossly misleading headline. Notice it takes to the last paragraph for them to tell us that a "safety operator" is always behind the wheel. I think another term for that is a truck driver.
Also notice, that Uber has not, and never will, release the stats on how often the "safety operator" has to take over. Also, the truck dr.... Er, safety operator has to comply with the same laws as us lowly truck drivers. I. E, CDL, med card, HOS etc.Steel Dragon, Rollr4872, 48Packard and 1 other person Thank this. -
Cost per mile is up a lot imo it’s all smoke and mirrors right now.. we’re safe for a few decades yet
LateNightCable, Steel Dragon and Rollr4872 Thank this. -
So if the safety operator behind the wheel is sleeping, and you get hit by one of these mindless truck robots....
You'll get to retire so nicely after the lawsuit
Steel Dragon and Rollr4872 Thank this. -
I hope you’re right about truckers being safe for a few decades and it just being smoke and mirrors. Everyday I get reassured that self driving trucks won’t happen anytime soon and I and others have nothing to worry about but then it always seems right after there’s some other article pushing to try and make it happen.Steel Dragon Thanks this.

Just run the line right up beside them. If like to see one in 40 mph wind gusts or a little bit of whiteoutSteel Dragon and Rollr4872 Thank this.

There's a guy who'll be staring at you intently as you try this because he suddenly had to take control of the wheel.
I'm not sure if birdies will happen
Steel Dragon, Rollr4872 and 25(2)+2 Thank this. -
You need to re-think the purpose of the article. It was designed to get clicks. It is free advertising for Uber and lots of clicks with little effort for the publisher.
Again, just read the last paragraph and thier pathetic attempt to try and a twist it into something different. The "safety operater" is a truck driver. He signed some piece of paper before starting that stated he was solely responsible for the vehicle. Meaning, if he wrecks, it's on him. Now, when Uber says that they will take responsibility, then you will know it is for real. Until then, this was just a puff peice.magoo68, Rollr4872, nax and 1 other person Thank this.
