Look you started this here and when you couldn't debate it you cried the mods don't want this here (although I'm pretty sure they can speak for themselves without you) If you can't or won't debate it here bow out.

    You actually started with this

    Then I responded from there.

So why do I not want my employer to control my access to healthcare? Free market economics is why. Imagine if doctors, hospitals, and insurers actually had to compete for my business. I could find better health care at a better price. I could make decisions based on cost because I could see the true cost to me. I can compare other employment opportunities "apples to apples" having only to compare wages, not a benefits package full of conditional statements.

In the early 1900s unions fought against company towns. Living in company owned housing, shopping at the company store, seeing the company doctor gives the employer tremendous control over the worker. It skews costs, leads to inefficiencies, and nuzzles innovation.

    Lonesome and DSK333 Thank this.

Unions have caused prices to skyrocket, and many, many companies to close. They are a huge part of the fiscal problems happening in Chicago, Detroit, and many other places.

I would never work for a place where the unions were involved.

Please remember we're talking theory here.

The other gentleman is asserting that it is good to allow an employer to make basic life choices for an employee. I believe the opposite, and that allowing employer control over basic life choices will shrink the marketplace and make it impossible for people to strike out on their own.
