    good luck, bowmeyer....
as a student who just passed my own tests, the best advice I can give is,
"stay calm and don't freak out"
as long as you stay calm, you can allow the drills and practice to kick in and help
    you through your testing.

Lilbit, LawDawg and bowmeyer1 Thank this.

Another thing you should do is call around and ask companies that hire students which schools they think are the best. That's what I did and I kept hearing one school name over and over, that's where I went and it's been 1.5 million safe miles since then.

thanks thats exactly what i did...i started my search in Febuary of this year and didnt even contact my final choice until september of this year...in my area we have four schools to choose from and the one i chose is state funded. it means nothing to most people but say like if i dont drive for a few years and then decide to get back into it. my refresher course would cost me nothing for life.. i ran into a guy yesterday as a matter of fact that had went through three years ago and was taking a refresher course...so at least i know that part of " the promises " are true.

well once again yesterday was a blast...drove in it all rain, snow, and then beautiful, beautiful ice. now as you are all aware im sure... no driving school would ever let you drive in ice ( usually anyway ) but you see we dont live by where we train on the pad so no matter what they have to get us back to our cars that are parked 40 min away in another county. and of course the farther north we went the worse it got. and as always the other guy got to drive back ( he would rather b.s. then concentrate on driving ) i nearly died on ice in the late 80's on I-75 so im real cautious when its icy and im watching four wheelers out the front windshield slide and this guy is only 3 seconds behind the car in front of us.......so i start counting one thousand one...one thousand two (out loud ) and he said ( whats wrong, you scared ) and of course i proceeded to inform him if i was injured because of his stupidity i would do things i cant speak of on here. idiot. to say the least we made it and the school parking lot was a sheet of ice and we did everything but jackknife in it. i skated to my car and sit there for an hour waiting for rushhour traffic to thin out. still pasted 10 wrecks on the way home and went 10 m.p.h down the interstate (with everyone else ) well enough boring everyone to death so ill say Merry Christmas to everyone.

its FRIDAY!!! just two more days of school left and test on Jan.6th weather permitting. if i pass (crosses fingers ) im ending this post and starting a newbie or greenhorn post......awesome. need to get me a lap top.....trying to wait until i actually get a CDL before i do...( dont want to jinx myself ) buy a laptop for the road and fail the test....that would suck. still gotta get my passport done too.waiting for the same reason. at any rate got to drive 3 hours today! didnt mess up all day..... my instructor asked me if i sent my twin to school. really starting to get in sync with the downshifting. now if only this industry paid well................
