Thanks for all the replies...we only have a hand full of our own chassis, so other times we have to go to a Dana yard and rent them I couldn’t agree more that the yards they own are terrible and can legit swallow a bobtail whole with them pot holes and disorganization.
All in all I’m going to continue to try and stay on the ISO’s as long as I can I think it’s pretty neat work. But again my company isn’t huge so I will do anything they ask as long as I’m getting miles. Thanks for all the replies maybe I’ll catch you at a tank wash or on the road.

Back when they first started to use drop frames owner operators complained that the chassis design used to slap them in the back a lot a lot was done to stop this but then they started to lighten up the chassis so I'd imagine they still bounce and kick a lot...like pulling a parachute was a good description.pathfinder1361 and ChicagoJohn Thank this.

I did them when I worked at Dana/Suttles. Not much different than doing regular tanker, usually out and back which was nice. Tended to have less surge than a smooth bore tanker. Picking them up at the rail yard was a pain because we’ll it’s a rail yard and every one I’ve been to was a pain. Used to shuttle them from the CN yard in Detroit to our yard and we’d stage them in the ground at our yard. That wasn’t bad as I went to hourly rate doing the shuttle work. I’ve seen Heniff in Chiraq has a set up where they’re staged and they have their own lifts. They do feel a bit tippy as opposed to a smooth bore. I enjoyed the work but the pay wasn’t there. I pulled smooth bore general chemical, compartmented, jet fuel, ISO, and dedicated acid tank for Suttles/Dana and really enjoyed the work but dealing with all that I left and made 1.5 times more per week gross delivering mobile home parts and supplies as a private fleet driver for Stylecrest which is the largest supplier of that stuff. That was 12 years ago so maybe the ISO pay has come up.pathfinder1361 Thanks this.
