I'm curious about the talk of cheating ELD's. Sure a driver can possibly make their logs appear a certain way but everything is recorded on the backend. Driver might be fine on a roadside but company will be f-ed on an audit. And then the circle of life catches up.

You’re a legend in your own mind.

Oh ya. We’ve had a few of those guys try to outsmart the machine. They had a “surefire” way to do it. And the whole crew got caught. I’m sure they liked to throw around insults at others like the billybob supertruckers around here do too.

Werner. This is what it is right here. Most of the people they have coming in new can't even spell 'what', let alone keep a log book, or understand the rules.
They had SO many violations, it was their only way out.
I'm sure they probably thought with their numbers, they'd just relay or team everything.
Not quite working out how some envisioned lol.Oxbow Thanks this. -

Its Not the "Outlaws" You need to worry About.. besides, the "Outlaws" Are driving pre-2000 Anyway.
You Need to Worry about the Novice Drivers being Stressed by their dispatchers to "get it there on Time"
When you see a LARGECAR motoring up beside you with that Growling 475 cat, He's on Paper, and about to Wave at you as he allows you to fall in line.Oxbow, Justrucking2 and HopeOverMope Thank this. -
Here’s a story. My co-worker worked over 16 hours on a 14 hour max day this week. He went way over his HOS because he wanted to get home that night. ELDs didn’t stop him. If he doesn’t get an inspection within the next couple months it’ll just slip through the cracks. I told him not to do it and just spend the night somewhere, but he did it anyway. This is the same driver that almost rolled the truck twice that day at the mine we were at due to excessive speed, and riding his brakes so hard that smell filled the air 100 feet away from the truck. He’s a serious danger to everyone, and I get terrified when I have to ride with him. These are the kinds of guys that kill people, and e-logs won’t do #### to stop it.
I personally bought an exempt truck because I hate using ELDs. Have never had a good experience with them. If I’m 15 minutes from home I’m going home unless some punk ### millennial driving a Volvo takes me out because he was too busy watching Netflix while driving.kemosabi49, Oxbow and Justrucking2 Thank this. -
You left out the other parts of your stereotypical response. It's WHITE Volvo truck from CHICAGO driven by a SLOVAKIAN millennial.
You have to get this stereotyping down, or else no one in the anti-elog, old iron exempt truck crowd is going to take you seriously.
