Thanks for the info guys. I think I found a place that will polish them for me.

Anyone know what the best filters to get are? Does anyone make performance filters for trucks or do the stock ones flow enough?

There are a couple places that make performance filters. I don't have their contact info handy, but they advertise in the truck papers at truckstops. The one I'm interested in can be cleaned and reused sorta like a K & N filter for cars and light trucks. I've ran baldwins and they flow pretty good, but if you have dual air cleaners you should never run out of air.

polish stainless with a red airway and brown rouge. 6000 rpm grinder, KEEP IT MOVING and use lots of rouge!! once you are done with that, switch to white airway and white rouge. That will take out the minute scratches the red/brown combo left behind. My breathers have over a million miles on them and look brand new again....

From what KW and Cat told me, run the Donaldson filters ONLY on ACERT engines. Said the turbos pull so much air that the "will fit" filters weren't doing their job and dusting engines.

I ran a K&N on my dually and it wasn't working worth a crap. Could wipe dust down on the rubber hose going to the turbo. Also, the seal on the air box was letting dust through, even with the edge covered in a heavy amount of grease like they say to. Removed the air box and went to a big Donaldson that attaches directly to the hose.

IMHO, if you have 13" breathers and need more air, the best option would be to get 15" breathers.

Personally, I think the 13" breathers spec'd on our T800 w/ ISX are too small. Have EGT issues with it in the mountains. Downshifting actually RAISES the EGTs, not lower them. The 15" breathers on my my W9 w/C15 has no problems.

Removing restrictions on the exhaust side will also help airflow.

Increasing flow can potentially give up protection. Increased flow should be from more media, not thinner or with larger pores.
