I just got hired this past Tuesday at TMC in Des Moines. Because of the Holiday my class only had a week and two days to get everything down. Talk about hell ! There were days where I felt my head was going to explode ! On top of that, guys were being sent home almost everyday ( I felt like I was on death row :biggrin_255: ) ! We started with 34 guys on the first day and by the final day we ended with 23. I'll tell you something though ... there's no other company I'd rather work for ! The instructers as well as the teachers were certainly rough around the edges ... but I learned ... I learned a lot. And I consider the teachers and the instructers as TOP NOTCH ! I learned more at TMC in a week than I did in trucking school for the month that I was there ! I'm currently waiting on a trainer ( my training coordinator said I probably won't recieve one until early January ... probably somewhere between the 2nd - 10th ... that's fine with me though ) here in Michigan. Guys, are there any things I should look for in my trainer ? Questions I should ask besides the obvious ones ( securing product, how to use Qualcom ( sp. ? ), etc. ) ? With that being said, I hope you guys have a merry Christmas ! I've already recieved my present ... getting a chance to be part of TMC's elite team ! :)

You just need to find out your trainers way of doing things. Does he take food with him or does he stop to eat , pack only what you will need those trucks are small when you get two grown men in them , listen to what he says and he'll show you the way. good luck and i'll see ya out there and welcome to the Black and Crome .

Don't be nervous ( easier said than done though, I guess ... I was nervous daily ... LOL ! ). TMC only asks of one thing for you, FirNaTine ... to be COMPLIANT. This is the one word they stress to you the very first day of class. Just be respectful to your teachers and instructers. That's it. And listen ! This is the most important part ! Especially when your out in the yard ! These guys are extremely, extremely knowledgeable. I mean, hell, most of them were truckers before they joined the staff ! We had people leaving everyday ( just about ) due to physical " limitations ", not passing their drug tests, and just plain not understanding how to drive. 13-Speed really isn't that hard ... trust me ! I learned it in 3 days ... and it takes me a while to understand things. I find it better to use than the straight 10 I used in trucking school. I don't really have any more advice for you other than what's posted above. Just listen intently, take a lot of notes, and study when you get back to the Hotel ( which is top notch, btw ). Watch out for the two old ladies that work in the kitchen ... they'll put more food on your plate than you'll ever know what do with ! And I stand 6'2" and 265 lbs ! LOL ! You'll never starve at TMC ! Best of luck to you, bud !

Are you quoting the apprentice teacher ( I don't think I can post his name ... can I ? ) ... he would always, always say this ! Amongst many other things, too ! :D
