SO you want to run the tube at a third of its rated power?

you need 8 alternators at 300 amps to get it near the 35kw plate input.

    rabbiporkchop Thanks this.

Ham (Amateur Radio) can get costly. I have nearly 2k in my set up and have talked to all 50 states and 14 additional countries. That being said Cellphone is best. For the next few years with the sun cycle the way it is you will find conditions for skip (long distance) will all but vanish. For those that can remember at the height of the last cycle nearly 10 years ago you could barely hold a conversation 2 miles ahead due to skip stations overwhelming your receiver. Right now you can talk longer local distances since the propagation for skip is near an all time low.

    stacks Thanks this.

Where do you start with the HAM radio? What's a good brand and what antenna is good? Can I use HAM like a cellphone (At any day or time of the year can I have reliable signal like a cellphone)? Just as long as two ppl turn on the radio at the same time and tune it to the right channel?

Kenwood, Icom, Yaesu, Alinco all make good ham radio brands. They work like a CB except you can use repeaters to further boost your signal. Good antennas are Comets, maybe Hustler.

Do you know how much a set up would cost to talk 200+ miles? Do you knoe if my A-99 Antenna would work for a HAM radio?

    1. You aren't gonna talk 200 miles unless skip is rolling. And even if it were rolling, skip isn't reliable, because it sets your signal down where it wants it to go, not where you want it to go.

    2. Your A-99 would work on 10 meter, and maybe 12-17 with an antenna tuner.

    1. By skip do you mean the reapeters?

    2. From my understanding 10m is HAM so what is 12-17? Can you explain me this?

I'll take two for the low cost of $13,500... It does offer 200w in ssb. I thought ssb was just for 11m (cb radio)??
