Southbound on I-65 near Bowling Green KY Saturday night. Confirmed tornados were on the ground in the area. Torrential rain. I heard a warning about a wreck and within seconds I came up on a dark-colored car sideways in the middle lane and a light-colored car sideways in the hammer lane. Thanks to the driver who broadcast the warning.

Amen. And thanks to the trucker who had a radio on to hear it.

Yessiree, thanks to that driver. Visibility was near zero and all of a sudden we had a dark-colored auto sideways.

I urge all drivers to at least buy a cheap unit and have it on all the time, even if you turn the squelch almost all the way clockwise.

By the way thank God because none of the vehicles looked heavily damaged at all

See the CB, or other vital sources of public communication if used for the right reasons can be a life saver.

People on the CB are different in Southern Louisiana then they were in Northern New Jersey where I grew up. I used to travel across route 80 everyday to and from work. You were guaranteed to get warnings and reports from other drives about anything that was happening on the roads. Here in Louisiana drivers don't warn each other about anything like accidents or police on the roads. They are only interested in proving who's radio is louder. And if you warn them? You can hear the crickets chirping because no one will acknowledge you. I warn them anyway.

I think it might be more of a sign of the "modern" times than it is geographic location. I've read reports from all over complaining about the lack of concern and courtesy among drivers and/or the lack of having a CB radio on at all.

I try to use mine when I see something, even if I don't get a response. It not only provides a service for my fellow drivers, but it also encourages the use of CB. Even if it's just a police location report, at least it's a little "reward" for those who bother to have their radios on listening and it may encourage its continued use. Maybe it will help compensate for the Tarzan calls, pantie status reports and bathroom sounds the juveniles in mommy's basement are putting on the air in some areas.

You forgot those base station radio rambos who could not make it as a real trucker. So they buy a loud, obnoxious, overbearing radios who bleed over like a women on her monthly cycle. lol

Maybe they were just too busy to answer you, going 80 in a 55 with a tornado comin' hard in the rear view.

Living in tornado country one learns several things.

If an enraged bear is invading the campsite, shout the warning once well clear of same.

Don’t screw up the traffic out aheadvof you.

    Timin770 Thanks this.
