I've been offered a yard jockey job right out of CDL school, but heard this does not count as experience. My other option is to drive for an LTL company. Which one of these would be relevant experience to apply for a garbageman in the future?
What experience is needed to work as a garbage man?

Garbage is very dangerous work. Done that before

If you really want to do trash, ltl. But why?

How so please explain. My dad and grandfather owned a trash company with rear end loafers and roll offs for 30 years. Also had a transfer station for our own trash with three tractor trailers. Can’t ever recall anyone getting hurt on the job. Just sayin. Had a couple knuckle heads take a highway ramp too fast a couple times and roll the trucks but those are idiot mistakes and no one got hurt

Traffic hits workers dumping resistance cans.
Dumpster fires.
Sharp items to step on.
Hopper accidents.
Roll overs.
Biohazards.
Landfill accidents.
Hydraulic failures.
Overhead strikes. -
Yeah I can see that now you put it that way. We did have 2 transfer trailers catch fire over night while hooked up to the compactor. Otherwise as a driver, you have to be alert and use sense at all times
