One of those "one owner operator with one trailer" dreaded scenarios. To refuse any load because of 1 hour late is so lame. Disposing of the freight one way or another ....B.S. - legal repercussions come to mind, sooner or later someone wants to be paid for the product and guess who they would send the invoice to.
Typically, with partial loads, in a situation like this, they would go to a 3rd party storage and the storage owner would arrange a delivery for a hefty pay.

Start emailing and phone calls to the top people. Contact the corporate office, wherever that is.Trust me, they have customers that aren't getting the product they want because it's sitting on your truck. The warehouse manager doesn't know about this because he's sitting up in his office and incidents like this are kept from him. I used to work for that goofy outfit, but not in Southaven.
One time I saw them reject a load of ice cream, saying it was soft. The trucking company had to buy the load. The truth is, they double ordered by mistake and that was their way of not having to pay for it. They were laughing and bragging about it.

Reminds me of my grocery hauling nightmare I had earlier this year .

Picked up a dry load of cereal in Winston Salem NC bound for Americold in Nampa ID. Pulled away from the door, load locks were already in place. Shut the doors, grabbed paperwork and left. No one mentioned anything about a seal. Neither shipper or broker. Nothing on the paperwork either. Get to Nampa and they start flying off the handle about not having a seal on the trailer. Sat for 4 days while they brought in 2 different state "inspectors" to "inspect" the cereal. These guys literally came in and just looked at it and said its good to go. As if they couldnt do it themselves. After they finally decide to start unloading me, they end up finding their precious seal under one of the pallets at the back of the trailer. I still dont know why it wasn't mentioned on the BOL. The whole situation left me disgusted with grocery warehouses.

In a couple more months I'll be purchasing a step deck.

This whole thread is a reminder to me why we got rid of our reefers and our dry vans.
Grocery warehouses, breweries, packing houses, and WalMart DCs just about drove us crazy.
I'd like to have the revenue we lost to stupid and unnecessary delays at both shippers and receivers.
We'll leave the door swinging to people with more patience than we have.
We don't have to make a lot of money to stay in business but we sure can't be losing too much either.

Call broker and tell them $250 a day for truck rental. Or reefer is running 10 degrees over temp, out of fuel or some other #### .
