uploadfromtaptalk1424905067857.jpg Here is that decent in OR. It's pretty steep, with lots of curves.
I used to live just north of K Falls, and when I took that route I had an empty flat, but I called ODOT, just to be sure and if I remember right, there were no restrictions at the time. If you call the KFalls ODOT office, they should be able to key you know what info you're looking for

I am trying to get to I-80 and eventually Utah from Klamath falls. My RM does not show 140 as a route allowed . 48' trailer. Does anyone have an update on why?

    Lepton1 Thanks this.

I'm looking at 140 in the Rand McNally Atlas. It shows sections that are truck restricted, but it isn't listed as a truck restricted route in the Oregon list in the front section.

I pulled a few loads from Klamath Falls to Utah. I always went north on US-97, then east on US-20 to catch I-84 at the Oregon/Idaho border. That's a beautiful run.

140 has two passes over 5000' to get to US-395. In the Pacific Northwest that's pretty significant. Perhaps they don't want slow moving trucks backing up traffic on a narrow two lane. The 97 to 20 is pretty much cruising, with a 4200' pass east of Burns.

Ya. I checked the PDF ODOT map and it shows I am allowed. But I think I'll just go the way you say. My Rand offers that or through CA on CA299 to US 395 Hauling plywood and at 79k lbs. This new route Adds over 100 miles. But no biggie. Thx

Yeah, with a load that heavy you can't go wrong with the 97/20. Enjoy the views.

    See attached pdf
You can legally take 140 over to 395 with a 48' and then up to 20. That's how I would go.

    It's restricted to 60ft trucks.
    No 53ft trailers allowed.
You'll see the signs once your about 50 miles into it
And it's to late to turn around.

I went thru it last year coming from Oregon to Nevada.
I passed maybe 3 trucks in a hundred miles.
No mans land. Lot of sharp curves and steep hills.
No shoulder for miles on end,and the road is elevated.
One second late in a curve and your rolling it over.
    No phone service whatsoever.

    No parking,
    No stopping,
If you break down your screwed.
You'll be sitting in the middle of the road with
Nothing in sight for 25 miles. With no phone service.

Praying that the one local person who rolls by
Every 45 minutes is not some lunatic looking
For something fun to do in that god forsaken place.
He could blow your brains out right there in the
Middle of the street and nobody would see or
    Hear a thing.

I made it thru and had to clean my underwear after
Climbing that one big hill at 10 miles an hour,
Basically hanging over a 500 foot cliff.
Some parts are so tight that the 4 wheelers won't
Even try to pass you doing 20 mph.

It's a one timer. You make it thru once you never go back.
If your loaded, say a prayer, if your empty or light
    It's bearable.
If any cop sees you passing thru your toast.
Everybody out there knows your not supposed
    To be there.

    IluvCATS and Lepton1 Thank this.

Look at the attachment I put in post 16
You can't be more than 65' for part of it in Oregon near where it connects with Nevada
