You shouldn't have a problem with what you are wanting to do but.... Is your anchor point on your trailer capable of withstanding the 4 3/4 tons? That would be my main concern.

Many of our trailers are steel anchor points on trailking trailers, so I would imagine so, but the only trailers we have that have ratings I the anchor points are the reitinour and mac flats.

If they have D-rings I would call the manufacturer and request a weight rating for them. Lot of D-rings you buy to install are rated, I've looked at them. You would think the area the D-ring is mounted to would be equal to or stronger than the D-ring rating. What ever your decision just be safe out there.

Most of our loads are really light since we don't haul much heavy equipment. This trailking that I'm hauling here only has d rings on the very back end. Other than that all I have is steel deck, stake pockets, and rub rails. The Bottom picture is what I'm picking up today taking to Millington Tennessee. 180 inch tank heads placed in our racks cap down. I'll be ascot 12ft wide 14ft tall

Check Ebay. I've bought a bunch of Crosby shackles on Ebay for a fraction of the cost of new.

The weld on rings are much stronger if they are welded in line with a crossmember. I've seen the outside beams rolled from rings not mounted on a crossmember.
