There’s gotta be better leasing options than Werner.
Could you make more as a company team? -
Team truck gross revenue 200 and change?........
A good company driver team you should be pulling in salaries easily of 70 000 each... or 140 000 together.. .......... did you draw that much when you were lease purchasing? Since you walked away, you obviously did not have a paid for asset worth x at the end of the term.... quick math looks like youd be further ahead as company driver team...Western flyer and spyder7723 Thank this. -
Sounds like you have it all figured out. Why are you asking question here?
There is nothing anyone here can tell you that you cant figure out looking at Werner's contract.
Personally,.. I dont want to make payments on a company truck operating by mega company rules. But thats just me. Everyone is different.
Lots of trial and error in this business. You'll figure it out.
HurstWestern flyer, nightgunner, spyder7723 and 4 others Thank this. -
Landstar.

You cannot survive on what they will pay you. And please tell us, how are your mechanical skills? There is much more to "owning" a truck than some paperwork and holding that round thing in front of you.

On edit: Team? You said nothing of that in your original post. Werner pays their drivers spit, that I can say without reservation.Last edited: Mar 23, 2018

I know crap all about leasing or buying trucks, but I also team with my wife. In my head I can't make sense of truck ownership for us.
We run up 500,000 miles on a truck in two years. These newer trucks I've driven start having issues by then, and if not they will soon after. Team freight is time sensitive, not really time for breakdowns and such. Warranty's are up by this point, not that you have time to be sitting in a shop.
I'm sure some people make it work, but I don't want to buy a ~$150k truck that will be ###### near worthless in a few years.
Much easier to run the wheels off a truck and then the company gets me a new one. Company benefits and as good of pay as anyone I know leasing (except those guys at the truck stop counter, but I've never seen a settlement from one of them). Also, even before we accepted a dedicated route we were home more often than anyone I know leasing at our company.haycarter, Western flyer, REEFERman450 and 1 other person Thank this. -
I dont know who you work for so no idea what your income level is, but i do know husband and wife owner operators that are netting 200k a year. A&E and high security loads pay big bucks to truck owners. But you won't find that kind of freight at a lease purchase carrier.mem Thanks this.

Oh I believe there are owner OPS making that kind of money. I'm at Prime so we do around 150k. We could do around 200k in linehaul as company drivers, but we like the dedicated gig we are on. Vacation benefits and pay have been bouncing up, and may be enough to keep us here until we retire.
I like the idea of owning a truck, it just doesn't make sense to me financially with us teaming. Not yet anyways. -
Once again..... I'm not trying to Work for WERNER, I'm only asking about buying a truck from them... I'm taking it to LANDSTAR.
