If u get called 4 a random. Still won't be good. The half life is short but still a pain in the ### trying 2 explain why you had them even with a prescription. Suppose 2 have a doctor note saying they won't interfere with daily driving or activities and company has knowledge. A tricky bridge 2 cross.

If they knew you were having oral surgery, good chance they'll pull you for a random, just saying. I would stick to Aleve or Advil, personally. A little pain is NOT worth my career. Especially with the country being up in arms about opiates these days.
Even with a doctor's note, opiates are No'No's in trucking these days anymore.

I had a tooth pulled while on home time. My company at the time told me that it had to be 24 hours since the last dose. I took ibuprofen and Tylenol in a rotating time frame. For me it works just as good as perocet or Vicodin.

I had 8 teeth pulled and used nothing but ibuprofen(partial plate installed)

I don't understand why people need narcotics for this

You'll be fine as long as you're not on the medication while working.
If you get a random and fail, the MRO will just ask for your prescription to verify the medication was prescribed to you. After you show him, you'll be cleared.
