right, we came to that conclusion because we've had similar issues in the past and at the end they left us with the responsibility of disposing it, so without wasting any more time than the 8 hours already given we acted that way. Also, I am happy to give it to a food bank but there had been situations where food bank rejected offer because they have no storage for it and time wasted is money lost.

This is one of my dreaded scenarios. If I could not get the resolution as to where and how and for how much within a few hours - patience level here depends on various circumstances such as my time constraints, the value of the cargo, and pre booked loads etc - I would be inclined to risk and face potential consequences of taking upon myself to dispose of the cargo. However, before taking any action, I'd like to know how much two pallets of peanuts cost. One of the possible consequences could be to get a judgment of paying for the product.

When I pulled reefer 95% it was donated to either a food bank or church and the majority of the time they even came and got it.
A couple times I took it to an ltl company to be shipped back( rare)
The rest " dump it"

it’s not your freight so therefore it’s not your call on what to do with it. This is an unfortunate situation to be in, but the right thing to do is wait until you’re told what to do with it and negotiate additional pay for the time you were stuck sitting on the load. The problem with making your own call to dump the freight here is that there’s no clear line drawn to determine when that’s ok. Two pallets of peanuts? Two pallets of iPhones? What gives you the right to give away, throw away, donate, etc. a product that you don’t own?

Okay. by the way, how is the dry van world compared to reefer? I have 2 reefers right now but I'm considering picking up a dry van for the first time.

Driver should have negotiated a new rate to include detention that started at the time he notified the broker of the issue, and got a signed rate confirmation. Unfortunately, he's on the hook for the freight that he gave away.Lite bug Thanks this.

You'll have more day time appts. And lowers rates. That's about all I can say on the subject right now. I'm currently leased to a carrier and only do drp/hk
