This sounds counter to what it should be, but if all your looking for is long miles on drives, go with trailer tires.
The have very stiff carcass compared to other types.
Ride will be rough, but they will last lots of miles

    ramirezbrandonc Thanks this.

Steers: Michelin xza3. But been discontinued and know called something else. Long life and great fuel economy. Best steer tire I've found used. Going to try the Bridgestone 283A next tho i doubt they will hold up as long.

Drives: Bridgestone m710s. Long life and even better rolling resistance than the Michelin energy d.

Trailer: continental hsr2 eco plus. Low rolling resistance and i swear they are built out of pig iron. Got them on my spread axle and they are wearing so good I'm beginning to think they will out live me. Seriously these things are still at 75% after nearly 3 years. Freaking crazy. If not for the sloppy job sites i go to id have them on the drives. The only complaint is they are so hard to find in stock.

Wanted to add. Every manufacturer makes a low rolling resistant tire. You need to pay attention to what model tire as well as what brand. Saying i lost .5 mpg switching from Michelin to Yokohama doesn't mean squat if yoh don't know what model the tire was.

Also Michelin has a rolling resistance calculate on there website. Worth checking out.

    22.5LP 16 ply Michelin XZA3 on Steers.
(200k+ mile steers)... Very very good tires.
    I think they're now called Energy Z.....

22.5 lp Bridgestone m710 ecopia on Drives.... Lowest rolling resistance and still a nice lug for traction. (350-400k mi heavy.... Incredible)

Michelin line energy D (drives) are a close second....

I run heavy all the time and 120psi cold pressure. Tire temps are great in summer with higher pressure... About 15-20° cooler.

Those of you who use the Bridgestone m710 Ecopias: What tires were you using prior to switching over and what was the change in fuel mileage?
