why not just go with decent pay and the security of huge companies... I.E. Schnieder, Werner, Swift, etc. Yea some down falls but most new grads are very limited... going for CPM is great but why get paid .40-.50 a mile when you only get 1000 miles... or get paid .36 cents and get 2500 miles... I am looking to become a O/O just need to get thru the first 2 years some where... putt my time in...

The quality of the training program should be your biggest concern.coastietruckin' Thanks this.

I don't know any thing about the big pumpkin or there training I chose Don Hummer because of the program they have. The trainer is in the jump seat next to you helping and teaching. You don't run as a team. Both student and trainer get paid a salary during training so there is no push to run miles that means you have time to work on the things you might be needing help with. I felt and still feel they pay very well as you progress thru the program. I started my training in may and was able to end the year around $39,000 I thought that was pretty good for 8 months work. I'm still at hummer and did MUCH better the second year. I don't know where you live or how big the student hiring area is but they would be worth a phone call. I know they are looking at making some changes to the program but not in the areas above I think they were looking at shortening the time it takes to get thru it "not real shur on that I don't spend much time in the office not really my thing"coastietruckin' and Drew352 Thank this.

Yes. I started with Superior Carriers right out of Big Truck Driving school in 2007.

SNI has very good training, both on tankers and dry van. I made some of my easiest OTR money driving a 60 mph truck.

I'm thinking about going to Don Hummer, I've already been approved and I was just wanting to get a drivers feed back on them, I make my own decision as to what I'm going to do but it's good to get a driver who works there opinion as to how a company is. So if you don't mind just give me any info or anything you'd like to share about Don Hummer. Thanks in advance.
