He has looked at a few other OTR companies and some local things too. But most everything he sees that interest him as far as hometime, benefits, dedicated or regional etc. want 1 year OTR. That is why I keep encouraging him to just hang in there. We've been this broke before just not in a very long time. But hey we all do what we've got to do to survive. His pride is hurting but like I said....he will take it better knowing experienced folks say stick it out.
When is it time to start looking elsewhere?

I wish I could help, God knows I could use a little! Keep that chin up! If you are behind in the bills, join a million others out here. I tell my buddies that they do not want your house, they do not want your cars, and they #### sure DO NOT WANT YOUR TRUCK! So don't sweat it.
But right now, trucking is not an alternative for a new guy. I would run from it, but that is just me. If I was single and did not have the overhead, I would sell the whole lot and go back to Vegas and sell sun tan oil!

I can hear the frustration in your post. I hope there are better MILES and times ahead for all of us.

IE twice in 5 years, in the trucking industry. Trucking is a very jealous mistress.
As others have pointed out. You have to take comments made by others, with a grain of salt. All those miles you hear about, are someones delusions. Although there are those of us who continue to get miles. There are 3-4 times as many that don't.
Waterloo hit the nail on the head. This is turning out to be a rough ride. I haven't seen folks this scared in a long time. Forunately, some of us were a bit more prepared. But, many of us weren't.
No matter where he goes, the miles most likely won't be there. Unless he makes it into a smaller operation, who has been more observant of the actual going ons in their fleet. Instead of just chasing miles.
While smaller companies tend to lack benefits. One sure way to prevent illness in the family. Is to make sure they are fed, clothed, and have a roof over their heads. Until the economy finally gets better.Panhandle flash and Hometime Thank this.
