Why do so many Americans hate European trucks?

Prepare yourself for a huge disappointment....
This truck once belonged to the same company as the ones I showed. The owner even opened a Mack dealership! However, the company was taken over by another company called Dusseldorp, and they certainly didn't want the Macks.
I looked at the specifications of that hugely impressive Mack, but those are not very impressive. Three 8 tonne rear axles, and one 9 tonne steer axle, that makes a total of just 33 tonne or 73,000 lbs. The engine has just 224 HP, so not very impressive either. However, it is a 1979 chassis, so that may explain the very low powered engine.
Dusseldorp replaced the Macks with these:
The Ginaf 10 x 8 X-5450S. May not look as impressive as the Mack, but technically it is a 60 tonne truck, so almost twice as heavy as the Mack. Since the maximum weight of a truck is 50 tonne in the Netherlands, it is officially classified as a 50 tonne truck. And before I forget, of the five axles, four are steer axles.Last edited by a moderator: Apr 5, 2018
