If he is leasing his equipment to a company, no, he'll be using their numbers.

 

Did he just buy it like buying a car or did he invest time into checking it out right?

Also if he is leasing to a company, they will him what he needs to be legal on the road.

 

At first, overwhelming is all it is. Just take your time. After while it's just repetitive. There are alot of good resources out there to help.

 

Get some accounting software like Quickbooks and learn how to use it. You might want to enlist the help of an accountant as well. Don't guess at anything when it comes to taxes or what's deductible and what's not. That's what an accountant is for.

I taught myself and after many accountant expenses I finally learned the right way. Lol
For him keeping the wheels turning constantly is the key.
Leasing to another company will provide him numbers and everything else he will need.
I own my own trailers and it was the best thing I could have done along with my own dot an Mc number I make more that way but again my key is consistency on the road and good maintenance save up a good maintenance account as that will be on him and big repairs and roadside repairs are killers.
