    As I put on the other Thread, I'm chasing info on any company that sponsors and employs overseas drivers.

    Been driving for the last 5 years as a Multiple Combination driver, driving everything from a single axle rigid (one drive axle and one steer) up to a quad road train, down here in Australia and was looking for a bit of a seachange.

    Any of you boys know of any companies that employ foreigners. Looking at a 6 or 9 month stay in the states :)

    I'm not sure you can do that. I didn't look at every state, but the in states I did look at require that you are a U.S. citizen or have permanent non-citizen status in order to receive a cdl.

    You might want to look at Canada. They have reciprocity with the U.S. Many Canadian carriers I see have what appears to be very tan Canadian's driving and several I have spoken with have poor English and strong Russian accents. Of course they may have gotten their license in Florida?

    Canadian carrier are more eager to sponsor foreigner, you might want to check with Big Freight in Steinbach Manitoba maybe also H&R out of Alberta also Trans West in Quebec.

    These aren't the best companies but they do have sponsorship program.

    Good luck

    Oh one last thing the flood of indian drivers from Ontario aren't sponsor, they only have relatives in the business who hire them and make them work for cheap!

    I understand non-permanent citizens with the correct Visa can get a CDL.

    I copied this from GonzoTrucker dot com.
    Trucking Jobs — How to Get a Work Visa and a Trucking Job in the USA
    Working as a Truck Driver in the US

    Immigration has set regulations and policies stipulating that alien truck drivers may qualify as B-1 visitors for business pick-ups or for delivering cargo for international commerce. For those who would like to work as truck drivers in the US, there is a specific visa category. One needs an H-2B visa that will allow temporary or seasonal work. This visa category requires a job offer from an employer who must provide documents verifying that the job is for a limited period (12 months). A temporary certification from the US Department of Labor indicating a shortage of workers in the profession is also required. A written verification that the applicant has experience in the profession is also needed. To qualify for truck driving jobs in the US, you must have a heavy vehicle driving license and, as mentioned earlier, a CDL from the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMB). Your employer should also inform you of trucking schools and viable training options that are available.

    Not sure you can come and live and work in Canada as a truck driver. The real question is do you want to become a Canadian citizen?
    This inquiry is more suited for @not4hire

    You are going to have to immigrate to Canada and/or get a work visa. Getting a visa as a truck driver, in the absence of any other compelling reasons (i.e., marrying a Canadian, etc.), is very low on the scale of eligibility. Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada has a website tool to give you an idea of your eligibility;
    You cannot exchange your CDL, so you will have to take both the written and road tests again. Ontario has instituted a mandatory training program requirement for new licencees.
