Hello, all! Been reading a lot and have been "Into" radio for about 25 years.

I'm buying a Lincoln II+ tomorrow and am going to do the mod to open up 11m.

My question is, how much of an issue is antenna going to have on 10m if I want to listen or even transmit? should I worry about pushing power through it outside the 11m band?

My previous radios have been GE (70s era), Cobra 148s and a Uniden 980SSB. If the LII+ doesn't do much for me I'll be reverting back to my 148s as their receive has always been way better than anything else I've owned.

The 10 meter antenna will be shorter than a 11 meter antenna. You can listen to the 10 meter band with a cb antenna, but you shouldn’t talk on it. Now some antennas maybe broad banneded enough to let you talk on both bands. But usually those antennas don’t work very well, because they aren’t very efficient. The best thing to do is have a 10 & 11 meter antenna trimmed for their proper band of use, and just swap them depending on which band you want to talk on.

    Don't transmit on 10 without a license.

6955kHz is a haunt of mine if you think I may not key up!

Regardless, I'm in a battle between the Anytone AT-6666 and the Lincoln but can't afford to buy them both and test.

I was more thinking Dr. Alan Maxwell? :)

I have time to decide. I ended up not pulling the trigger last night. Going to do some more research. It looks like the AT-6666 has strong support.

They kind of suck out of the box but they do have lots of potential
