ET's trainee was a hot model that wanted a career change. They got married in Tijuana. Word has it they got a priest to do the services during a donkey show.

I am currently at Mid Florida Tech. Great school. It is PTDI approved. I spoke with Crete about a month ago. Said I had to have 4 mos. OTR experience before coming to Crete, even with the school. Submitted my app. to them anyway yesterday.

Stickhauler, I don't think new drivers can have pets but you'd have to ask. I believe the change was just for current drivers. And I've heard that if you have an APU you can't have a pet anyway. Not sure if that is true or not.

We are usually out for 4 weeks so we can take 4 days off. This just works better for us, and we like getting the extra day off.

Thanks snackbar for the info about the satellite, I've heard that can happen. I'm assuming you can run the receiver through a regular 400/800 watt inverter. We are still hoping to find one at the truckstop, we are going to stay at Petro in San Antonio so we'll see what they have.

Take care everyone and stay safe :biggrin_25525:

Another question about satellite dish's for those who have one... I've noticed that trucks have them mounted on the mirrors with a pole mount... where do you get those??? We found our dish at a pilot, but now have to figure a way to mount it! At least we're getting closer to having it set up, lol!!

    Thanks again

I got the Laredo load off today and now I'm on one from Victoria, TX to New Albany, MS (955 miles) and I have a question ... Have any of you run US 59 all the way up through Texas and picked up I-20 in Shreveport, LA before? Will it be worth the headache? Right now I'm routed along the stretch of I-10 to I-12 between Houston and Baton Rouge where I've generally lost between 1.5 and 2 hours every time I've taken it eastbound from all the Houston area road work and Baton Rouge congestion recently. I seriously lost better than an hour going through Baton Rouge at around 20:00 last time. Any other ideas on a better route up through the woods?

To: truckindogmom, i have a sat. i puchased it from camping world then got the sat. man from w. memphis to install it and show me how to it.

mine is mounted on the hand rail behind the cab, the dish is affixed to a fence post that slide's up and down.

i have dish network and i pay a add'l 5.00 a month this is what i have at the house also.

NO you cannot get local channels out on the road the feed is for the home area only

with some practice you can set it up in 5 min.

I/ve driven US 59 many times. You can expect good running for the most part. However, keep in mind you will encounter stop lights while passing through the small towns. Will it save you time? Roll the dice!

I left home (San Antonio,TX) 12/27 after a week off for CHRISTmas. I too p/u in Victoria. Mine went to Monroe,GA. Then I went to Marietta,GA to p/u a dropped trl going to ST. Rose,LA which I delivered 0400 yesterday. Sent mty call at 0445 and got the dreaded "NO FREIGHT" message.

At 1530 yesterday I was dispatched to p/u in LaCombe,LA going to London,KY. P/U had an open window of 12/30 0001-2359. I can only guess that the load was actually not available to p/u till around the time I was dispatched. I left at 1700 to p/u and stopped in Cottondale,AL at 2345 for the night. There is an open window for delivery on 01/04 0001-2359. However, I will have it dropped by 1800 today.

I love open window p/u and deliveries!

I'm off to see the wizard. Later!

^ Thanks. I think I'll give it a try depending on what time I get loaded. I can usually make up for lost drive time through stoplights with the occasional 8 minute logged pit stop, but those hour-long crawls are ruinous to one's 70 and are a big part of why I only had 3188 miles with 5 hours left last week. My appointment isn't until 17:00, but I think I'm gonna slip on over there and see what happens. This is a Wal Mart drop, so the sooner I can get it off and get back on the list, the better.
