Just read an article that says almost all of us will be replaced by 2030 by Otto.
I find it hard to want to invest in a new truck if that is the case.

There will still be a need for humans, they will be needed to do the dirty work still. sticking on chains, fueling, and opening the doors for the trailer.
mhyn Thanks this. -
one big accident done by Otto will push 2030 to 2040...))))))
windsmith and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
that's 12 years away, maybe more.

I thought pretty all of these self driving companies gave up on the idea and testing because of the Uber crash? I know what you mean though, I’m wanting to get my cdl and get into trucking once I’m 21 but it’s kind of scary to think they’re pushing so hard to get autonomous trucks on the road as soon as they can and that they’re so ready to get rid of drivers. I’m hoping it doesn’t happen in my lifetime but it’s kind of hard to be optimistic about it when it seems like there’s such a huge push for it.

There's been a huge push for nuclear fusion since fission was discovered too.
I can't see them ever making it work. Everyday there's some article about autonomous vehicles in the financials or some other place.
Can't help but wonder how much is pure BS. -
If it is self driven with no human, who gets the blame in the accident?
Dave_in_AZ Thanks this. -
What about roadsides? Otto get OoS or a free pass?
-
Next thing they’re gonna say is everyone should get a free guaranteed paycheck to compensate for the robots doing all the work!
coastietruckin' and Streetroddreams Thank this.
