I just got a 2019 T 680 and discovered that when the Auto start starts the engine, instead of a relatively discreet chime like the Cascadia, it honks the horn twice. I can imagine some very unhappy driver next to me in the truck stop at two in the morning going ape####.

So far, not very happy with this (company)truck. There's several other things about it that makes me shake my head and wonder "what were they thinking?".

    bzinger and tscottme Thank this.

That's probably an easy fix; just a parameter in the ECM.

Does it also fire up the brake lights as it's coasting down a minor hill and engine brake is active like many new Paccar trucks do at factory settings?

SoulScream84, tscottme and Hurst Thank this.

I don't know. Good question. I'll have to check when I'm driving at night.

If the company allows it, which I doubt for "safety reasons".

Since you opened the door the truck thinks you are outside and potentially in a dangerous place if the engine starts. Theoretically the system doesn't work if the hood is open, but that's another story.

The simple fix is to not enable auto start until you hop in the sleeper, if the doors don't open after enabling auto start they system will skip the warning beeps to avoid waking a sleeping passenger.

That's engineers for you very little real world use for what they come up with. I'm guessing your auto start is for the heat and air while sleeping, that'd piss me off as the driver if it's starting and shutting off while I'm trying to sleep.

It sure is a brave new world.
I just read above - "The truck thinks......" as if it is a cognizant being.

I don't care what the truck thinks.
    I'm driving this tin can!

You guys, it isn't the engineers, they are following the instructions of the marketing department. I think if the engineers built a truck that they liked, it wouldn't have half the crap on it and stuff we could use.

Mine does. I hate it. I wonder how many people think I'm a terrible driver now constantly tapping my brakes.

Still undecided, Oxbow, Badmon and 3 others Thank this.
