This has probably not been asked but im gonna ask lol.....today for the life of me I couldnt get a trailer door to close right. I got the left side to go in alright but the right side just wouldnt go in and latch. It was going in good until I I got ready to push the handle in and put the lock/seal in and the handle just wouldnt push in all the way. I know im a small fella and all but dang that bout whopped my tail. I have came across a few trailers that do this but none like this one did. I finally pushed it in good enough and hit the handle in with a rock and it finally buttoned up

are there a trick to this or what??? :biggrin_2554:

Sprung doors are always a b#####.

Carry a 2lb sledge to assist. Or a small crow bar to lift up on the door. Sometimes you need both.

Sometimes, it's the angle of the trailer. You can pull up 3, 5 or 10 feet to flat ground. And everything will button up just fine.

Other times, you will actually need the trailer to become torqued aka twisted. To close the door.

Every situation is differant. But a sledge can save you a lot of walking back and forth :biggrin_25525:

First thing I usually try is pull up a few feet, as Dance said. Most of the time, it's the angle the thing is sitting at. The sledge will also help you with your frustration! :biggrin_25525:

    2 thingies:

    1) IF THE LOAD IS PACKED WITH AIR BLADDERS, YOU MAY NEED TO HAVE THE DOCK FELLAS RELEASE SOME AIR PRESSURE. THEY'LL TELL YOU THEY ONLY PUT 2-3 PSI IN THE THINGS BUT.... YEAH.... HEHEHE
I'VE SEEN THE DIPS CRANK UP THE REGULATOR SO THEY CAN FILL THE BAGS QUICKER...

    2) ONCE IN A WHILE YOU MAY NEED TO PULL ONE SIDE OF THE TRAILER ONTO A 4X4 BLOCK OF WOOD TO RACK THE TRAILER OVER SO THE DOORS MATCH UP.

I had an old trailer the other week that really made me work for it. It had big rolls of newsprint on it and it had the trailer a bit twisted. Took me two hours just to get the left door shut, the right was okay.
It seemed to be something with the load as the next three loads, I had no problem closing the door.

Just one of the joys of trucking. Like the sliders that won't slide. Or even the fifth wheel that won't release. As has been said, try moving the truck a little. And remember, "when in doubt, GET A BIGGER HAMMER!":yes2557:
