Hi guys. Like the title says, does a 2011 dd13 dampner wear out? I wasn't sure if it is like a harmonic balancer as in a fluid or something does the balancing or more like a fixed weight that doesn't go bad. I have a bad engine vibration and it is there moving or not. So I was wondering if I should buy a new one. It doesnt look too hard to remove and install. The other thought I have is maybe the pressure plate is off center, but I don't know how to check that. Thanks, Rob.

Yes dampner wears out.
I don't know how to test or look for signs of wear.
I think they should be changed 500,000 miles.
Good luck -
Thanks, the truck got a new crate engine before I bought it. But judging by the amount of things bolted to the engine that I have replaced (egr valve, actuator, cooler, radiator, well you get the idea) I doubt they put a new one on. The engine has about 140,000 miles, the truck has about 700,000 miles.

Replace every 500K

Did you replace it? Did the vibration go away? I’m having the same problem now.
