Screenshot_2018-04-10-17-23-02.png I'm out of patience dealing with a guy who has been told to log 100% legal about a 1000 times. His response is "what's the big deal?" Am I out of touch with the elogs reality ? Any thoughts?

If he doesn’t understand what the big deal is and what’s at stake in the big picture for your business then it is time for you and him to part ways.

Send him packing , end of story.
Unless of course you don't mind paying $1000' s in fines come audit time or paying a million( s) dollar law suit after an accident and they dig into his logs.

    Hulld and Tropsnart Thank this.

Where do I start? Oh boy that log sure will attract some attention. From a driver's perspective they feel that if the clock is ticking they are losing the potential to earn, although all that does is cause them to rush which leads to increased claims. From an enforcement perspective that log jumps out as questionable, plus they know it takes time to load/unload a car hauler so it could lead to further action.

As an owner, no you are not out of touch with the elogs, yes they will show things to the minute so a grid will never be as neat as before, but that one is bad. The driver needs to log on-duty for loading, fuel, inspections, even walking the lot to pull cars. There is no legal way to avoid that!

The real sad part about that log example above, all the crazy off-duty does is preserve the weekly 60/7 or 70/8 clock and most drivers don't run out of weekly hours, especially since they usually take a 34 reset weekly. Bottom line, if the driver will not be compliant then they need to work elsewhere. You do not need the exposure that they bring, even if they are a great car hauler it isn't worth the risk.

Boy - am I ever glad I don't have to deal with that.
Drivers perspective, or Owners perspective, it's a buzz-saw on your ### every day??

As an O/O with full capacity to back-end edit my logs, I don’t and here’s why. It’s very difficult to run out of hours. Granted, the clock doesn’t always work out to my advantage. Im the type that would rather be up and rolling at 4am or 5am rather than sitting around for 4 or 5 hours because my 10 hrs isnt up, but sometimes that’s what happens. Best thing to do is simply plan in advance as best as you can. Try and be where you’re going to load or unload last thing or first thing without rolling the wheels. It’s the only real way to save your clock. And save your back side from DOT.

I agree. No purpose in saving hours. I've told him to not touch the log except to take his 30 minute break and end of the day. He's had his last talking to this morning. Next step is to let him go. He's a great guy, hard working but I can't seem to get through to him to be 100 % legal.
