they turned me down. how is your driving record? i have no dui's no felonies no accidents or anything. i have 1 speeding and 1 for load not tied down correctly and 1 for going around a baracade that said "road closed to thru traffic". i have great work history back 12 years. so the only thing i can think of is the not perfect driving record.

Well if T/A turned you down, you may have problems. My driving record is good, had a great work history (24 yrs with last job) but I had problems getting hired due to my felony. At least T/A is giving me a chance.
I agree with you that your problem is probably your driving record. Driving around a barricade? Road closed to thru traffic? What were you thinking of? -
i had business in that area. that is why i was there. that is the difference between "road closed" and "road closed to thru traffic" thru traffic means if you have business in that area you can drive in there, just not all the way through out the other end. that is what i was doing, in to do business and out the same way. even the federal law said i was right. however, when i fought it in local court the majistrate said she didnt care about the federal law i had to pay it and except the points. there was nothing i could do at that point but pay it. i asked to at least drop the points and ill pay the fine and she said no.

To all you newbies or someone looking to change companies the best advice ihave for you is to make a list of the companies your looking at and the things that matter most like cents per mile, benefits,HOMETIME,ect Remember that if a company offers BIG cents per mile there is a reason why BEWARE after eliminating some go to a truck stop and talk to some drivers from the companys your interested in hiring on with not just one but several and make you decision from there. also look at the companys safestats score on the web at safestats website. I drive for con-way truckload formally CFI i like it i am a company driver have a decent truck and almost always get a green light on my prepass due to the company having a good rep with the dot that my fellow drivers saves lots of time hope this helps out especially if you are into creative logging please do not call it fudging a log book

I've been driving for ten yrs and no that's not alot but I'm not a newbie either. I can't believe I did such a stupid thing as the lease program.
First of all I am not one who trashes around at truck stops all the time. I run all hours of the day and get out there and get the job done. I pickup and deliver early when possible so hopefully I can get an extra load or two in a wk.
Now about the lease program. Looking back there were tell tell signs at orientation that should have made me leave and never sign the lease. The day I picked out my truck I looked it over and found things that needed to be fixed on it. They said they would have it ready to roll Friday. Ok cool. Heather the leasing supervisor told me it was an 07 because the last digit of the truck # was 7. That's what i wanted cause the payment would be less than an 08. And i wanted a truck with some miles on it figuring it would already be broke in. Well lease signing day I find out the truck is actually an 08 it was just put into service in 07.At that point there was only one other truck to choose from which I didn't want so I just said screw it.Well I get done with orientation and my truck wasn't ready. All four batteries were dead and it needed a steer tire. They already had a load on me too but had to take it off of me cause truck wasn't ready. Well I finally get rollin saturday night. Sunday my truck broke down. Long story short in the 5 months I drove for them my truck was in the shop 6 times. And there was no help whatsoever from leasing. yes they offered me a loaner truck but there was never one available. So i lost alot of time and moneybeing in the shop not to mention money on motels and all that. So I finally decide to terminate the lease because I was just one truck breakdown from being forced into bankruptcy. They said I had to bring it back to Olathe or they would charge me a recovery fee and put it on my DAC as an abandoned vehicle. I said ok fine but I will need to be there no later than Sunday cause Monday I had to be on my way to orientation at another company. They have a fleet based out of Rocky Mount ,NC which is 50 miles from my house but they would not agree to me taking it there. Long story short I waited 3 days to get a load going to Olathe and they just would not do it. So Friday afternoon I decided screw it I can't wait any longer. So I took truck to Rocky Mount. I'm gonna give it a couple wks then get a copy of my DAC to see if they put anything on it but at this point I don't care. I just needed to get away from TransAm.
I know some of you will think I'm just a whiner but that's fine too. I know personally that I gave it my best shot and really stayed longer than I should have. I didn't turn down loads unless I didn't have the hours to run it and even then they tried to make me take them. So you supertruckers can call me whatever you want but I gave it my best shot.
Experienced drivers i would not recomend this company under any circumstances. Students go for it. You need to get experience somewhere. Just know that after you're there 3 months, and they have recieved their $3000.00 from the government, they will not care about you anymore either. This company is a nightmareNavigatorWife and billsgirl Thank this. -
I'd like you all to know, my mate & I were company drivers for Transam, and I wound up getting very sick far away from home. I was hospitalized, and the 2nd day I was in there, Transam terminated me and my insurance was also terminated. I hadn't even gotten a diagnosis. After getting out of the hospital, I was given a diagnosis of Cancer... We sat in the hospital parking lot for 22 hours waiting for a load. Finally, I spoke directly with Johnny Jacobsen. We got a load back to our home state. And I finally got home to get the treatment I needed. I had to go on Cobra insurance which costs 3 times what I was paying while working. So with no job, and having to pay all of that insurance, it was tough. My mate kept driving for them, and they made him sit for days before getting him a load. He was making almost nothing! Transam could care less for their drivers, and I am living proof... I recently was tested and now my cancer is gone, thank God. And the very day I found that out, I got a card from Transam wanting me to come back to work for them... I think NOT... I have never been treated this way by any company. So if you think Transam is a good place to work for that is your opinion. But I have mine and to me they are a really bad company.

countrycool - is trans am's "terminal" in rocky mount still an office in the KW dealership? my first trucking job was chauffering a couple of their "coaches" around.
-
Those guys that go to the schools for Transam get paid $100.00 to do that. That may by why you saw such a pay check. And if he was training someone, that would be another plus to his check. The company does NOT AND I MEAN NOT care about their drivers. Read what I wrote on page 12, & you will see. My mate has since quit driving for them. And we will never go back. He is driving local and making more money. Of course, he has the experience needed to do local trucking. I on the otherhand do not have the experience to go local. I don't know what Transam put on my dac report, since I was medically terminated while in the hospital. Even before we had a diagnosis. Which is Cancer. Transam has not contacted me about my condition. They DON'T CARE!!! And that is the bottom line. Just a warning to all. If you are terminated, your insurance is also terminated at midnight of that day. Good luck if you go to work for them. Just don't get sick...

Yup that's right chief. I just got back from there. Screwed up DAC ? Maybe but I could not be happier being gone from them
-
That sounds just like em. Everything is fine until you have a problem of some sort. My problem was a piece of crap truck that kept breaking down. It had nothing to do with me how I was driving it or whatever but that's how they treated it. Like it was my fault. The regen system kept going out on it
