As far as his backing goes, Steve (if he is still the instructor on the backing range) is a decent guy and will help him with his backing if he needs it, and usually as far as testing out goes, they will let you stay there as long as you need to-testing has not much to do with paperwork except mostly logs, HOS, map reading, trip planning and safety. Any time he wants, he can go practice on the backing range, they leave the trucks idle 24/7 but you have to go in twos (so no one gets run over:biggrin_25525:) If you have any other questions about TransAm, just ask!!! By the way, he might have to wait for a truck once he is done testing. I did!! I also trained in an automatic transmission and was given a super10 which I had never driven, but its the same as a straight 10, actually easier to shift. this is from Bill the driver/mover

I looked at this lease program before. Only 88cpm MAX? How do you live on that? Talking to some TransAm drivers, it has been tough getting miles to pay that, even this past summer before the current freight slump hit. Other than that, I have heard mostly good things about TransAm.

Just go to your tools and Ispell and pull it up from their
Once it becomes habit it will seem easy
No my problem is sometimes my spelling is so bad even spell check cant figure it out LOL

I bet he is homesick. And that does have an affect. Tell him don't worry too much about the "backing". As long as he gets it in the hole without hitting something he did good:biggrin_25525:! Also, tell him turn the CB off.

He's gonna get homesick and your gonna get sick of him being gone, but just remember that he is going to need your support to get through it. When I first started driving kids were 2 and 5 and it was hard being on the road and leaving home. I wish the two of you the best of luck and I hope it all works out for you. BTW still with my wife and she still hates me driving but she knows it's in my blood.

    Hi all

Just want to fill you all in on my husbands experience so far with TransAm.
He left for Kansas the Sunday before Thanksgiving Nov 23rd 2008 went out for 4 weeks with his trainer did his road test Christmas Eve and he's still sitting in Kansas waiting for a truck. I think he should be getting one soon because he's now 2nd on the list.
I sure hope so the bills are starting to get backed up. $350.00 a week doesn't go to far. I'm disabled so things are really getting tight, I can't wait to get some insurance again that starts Jan. 26th my medications are really expensive with out insurance.I started buying a weeks worth at a time, I bet the pharmacy is about ready to scream.. (ha ha)
Well we all have problems don't we..
Anyway I can't wait till next spring so I can go along on a couple of trips. I want some experience under his belt before I go. Just kidding I trust him but I don't like winter driving so I'll just have to be patient.
The plan is as soon as he gets his truck he'll put in for hometime which for TransAm is 8 days later so I guess he should get home by mid Jan.09.
    I can't wait to see him.:yes2557:

What does he do while waiting making 350 a week. Do they have him do any work for the CO. or just sit in the hotel?

Sit in a motel? Oh no. You have to come to the terminal each day AND bring all Your stuff with You. Then you just sit around and wait for something to happen. If your lucky, you might get to go on a truck recovery or something.
I brought a load back here on the 23rd of Dec. and since the truck I'm driving is getting up there in mileage where warranty issues come up, am trading for another one. Not my choice, company choice. Still waiting and its now Jan. 5. Heard of one driver whos been here since Dec. 1.
Did get to go to Florida tho on a truck recovery which was nice. Truck was trashed but got to do something anyway. Supposed to finally get a truck tomorrow but......will have to see.
