    Hey all,

If you had a choice, which route would you take: otr with TMC/Freymiller/another good company, or go with UPS?

I have an opportunity with UPS, but keep thinking otr offers more freedom. What do you guys think?

UPS has a pension and benefits package that is TOTALLY UNBEATABLE....

you could possibly end up with a mere $5,000 monthly pension check, PLUS your SS when you retire.

NO ONE ELSE can match that....

i see no rhyme nor reason to think anyone else.

LTL with UPS. It's a very good opportunity. But I'd be lying if I said I didn't get my CDL and want to get into trucking to be loose and free. I guess my question is does the loose and free even exist in today's industry anymore. I think I know thr answer, because obviously most companies are on elogs, etc. But I just wanted to ask the divers on the board here what they thought.

I hear that. I'm just curious if the road would offer intangibles that a pension doesn't have. I dunno. I might just be speaking out of my butt here.

And I'm not totally aware of how the pension works. Can it really be $5k a month?

To be honest with you, ALL depends about what you're looking for... I did my time OTR, then when local for a dedicated acc, then I did some LTL and now I'm doing dry bulk... doing LTL you will have a handheld and it's go go go, a lot of micromanagement and stuff like that... a lot of BS in the LTL world...but if that is what you're looking for give it a try...let me ask you this... what are the 3 main reasons for(YOU) choosing UPS?

my bro-in-law works PART TIME, nights, just unloading the brownies......he is in the union.

he got a union letter last month....when HE retires at 25 years...HE WILL BE GETTING.....

    $3,000 monthly........

so $5,000 (and up) is for full timers, you decide if any "intangibles" from a OTR company will ever be that good.

hey good luck to you, i am out of this one now, if you think you're gonna do better elsewhere...

Job security, decent pay, and home time are the reasons why I'm happy with the UPS offer. But due to some personal junk going on, I'm not sure if the home time is all that important anymore.

@RicoNC don't discourage the driver, the LTL world is not so bad. it's all about adapting driver.
