can you contract the state patrol or who ever came out and find out if they got the people? also, can you contract the T/A guy and get a statement from him for your company? did he get a license number etc? good luck and my husband who has driven for 30+ years says you did the right thing.

    One reason comes to mind.
That being that they hoped you'd be willing to "settle" things without
    involving the law.
    Read, Easy Money $$$.
    For THEM.

For what it's worth, I think you did the right thing. :yes2557:

    Just curious though, ----
What did your safety department have to say when
the other vehicle was located, and was as you described it?

It sounds to me like you did everything you could to prevent the accident. It's easy for some Safety guy to come up with scenarios in "hindsight", but he wasn't there when the split second decisions had to be made. I think though that I would have immediately started taking pictures with my phone before I even called 911 since noone was injured. Then you would have had their tag number. But that's also a "hindsight" opinion and when things are happening you usually end up reacting to the situation rather than what you could be doing. All in all it sounds to me like you handled the situation very well so don't doubt yourself now. Hindsights always 20/20 and we can always think of something we could have or should have done and like someone else said, those Safety people are paid to think of those things. I had someone knock my mirror off while I was parked and in the sleeper. The Safety guy said "every accident is preventable", my response was "your right, the other driver should have gotten out of his truck and looked, but he didn't so how is that my fault?" He didn't respond. When I went to work for another company I had to explain that accident in writing because it was on my report as an "incident" (damage to driver side mirrow). Go figure.
