Check with bigger trucking companies (Prime, Schneider, Werner, etc. in that order). Many of them will pay off that $3500 if you stay with them for one year.

People have opinions about the big companies; however, pay your dues and let them be your starter company.

After a year over the road (OTR) most local companies welcome you with open arms.

Sacrifice now for freedom later.

 

$800 isn't decent money in Houston. Decent money in Houston is enough money to move out of Houston.

Let's see... $800 week is very low, but it's what you are making now so I'll use it.
$800 x 50 weeks per year x 25 years (most people get more use out of their CDL)
Is losing $1,000,000 worth it for that company when you loose your CDL due to their faulty equipment?
Your CDL is your lively hood. Go find a job the is both legal and pays a decent rate.

 

These guys are right. I started hauling containers, and this is a loose business. The weights don't seem to match the bills, and I was warned to avoid scales at all costs. Now my CDL is in jeopardy from the events this year. There are tons of jobs out there, but if they can't get you insured you aren't going to get hired.

Can haulers are notorious for running a shady business with very low pay. They push their drivers to run illegally and their equipment is almost always unsafe. Get a new job kid. You'll thank us for it later.

 

It means when a relative burial is finished in about a year there, I will visit the farm where the truck is kept and take a look at it again, and maybe take it for a drive.
