I would suggest you talk to drivers at truck stops or "travel centers". The first words you should say is "I'm not asking for money, I am looking to find info on becoming a truck driver." Drivers suspect anyone approaching them is looking for money, a prostitute, or drug dealer.RedBeardedT, Wingnut1, Woodys and 9 others Thank this.

We've all heard too many fables about bad things happening at rest areas. If I'm approached at a rest area (and most public areas we visit), I immediately go into defensive mode until I know the person isn't a threat. Keep your distance and we'll be fine.
Park yourself on a stool in the truck stop restraunt. We all spew BS at the counter over coffee.BUMBACLADWAR and cp1121 Thank this. -
thanks, that's good advice

Don't overthink it. There's just too many variables to get much reliable information at rest areas. Most drivers at rest areas won't be too talkative because they're either tired or just need a quick rest room break.cp1121 Thanks this.

When some random guy approaches me at a truck stop, rest stop, or anywhere else for that matter, I assume he wants $ or is queer as a football bat...
Stick to places like this, much safer bet...Getsinyourblood Thanks this. -
