So I got three completely different offers from the three best companies in my area. First one is a Schneider Jet set dedicated .42 cpm Walmart route where I'll be out for 21 days and home 4 to 5 days; a flight is provided to and from station, but slip-seating. The second is with May trucking over-the-road; typically .36 cpm start, but they have flat rate pay meaning no matter how many miles driven I'd recieve 735 dollar check each week, barely any hometime. Third is a Werner dedicated Anheuser Busch account at .43 cpm start; about the same hometime as any other over-the-road gig would be. I test out of school May 4th and this will be my rookie year. Anybody ever worked for these companys? Which one's more promising? Take note I'm in loads of debt, have no girlfriend or liablities back home, and hell I think those are my friends! Haahaha

Don't forget that other than the cpm, just about everything the recruiters have promised you is probably a lie. Dedicated runs generally become available on a seniority basis, and rarely go to the newbies. That being said, you'll need to get your first year of experience somewhere if you want to work for a higher paying carrier down the road. Chose the one that is closest to your home and has a safe place to park your personal vehicle while you are gone. And don't forget to compare the benefits each company offers, and especially the cost to you each month. If you get a higher cpm from one carrier but they charge a much higher price for your benefits, you'll wind up making much less on each check. Get the cost of benefits IN WRITING and not some ballpark figure from a recruiter because they usually don't know or care. They just want to fill a seat and collect their commission.

These are actual job offers. I've been comparing companies this entire month. It buckles down to these three, no other company is hiring recent graduates and if they are they aren't providing such benefits that are even remotely close to the ones I put up there; like CR England and Swift.Last edited: Apr 30, 2018

I think you can make more money with other companies. Look at these and make some comparisons; they all hire new cdl grads.

Yes, I understand that they are job offers. But they are offers made by recruiters with those companies you listed. I'm assuming that you are attending a truck driving school and the recruiters come in to convince you to submit a job app, and they offer you a job as soon as you graduate? Some companies send in a driver with a shiny new truck to convince new recruits their company is the best. Other companies send a pretty woman that can sell ice cubes to an Eskimo. Either way, they usually have the same thing in common which is promising a lot of things that wind up not being reality once you get the job.
I'm not trying to convince you that all recruiters are like this. Just giving you fair warning that there are hundreds of threads on this web site alone about new drivers who are promised one thing, and wind up with another once they get the job.ghostcookie, Lepton1 and Brickwall Thank this. -

This is a Seaboard Transport truck pulling a refrigerated sea container. Probably a load of pork going to a sea port for an overseas destination. Seaboard Transport is involved with the pork industry. Yes, they hire new cdl graduates.Metallica88 and Njhandofdoom Thank this. -
