I just came off a 2 year dedicated local job hauling steel for Nissan. Put a side kit on it & hauled 45,000lb on pin pallets loaded single file down the center between the frame rails. I left that lane in November & back to general stepdeck freight.....except heavy tracked/wheeled equipment.....because I don't trust her to take the strain.

Just because it over hangs the front doesn't automatically make it a legal load. In many states any load over 53 requires a permit, doesn't matter that it only hangs over the front.Ruthless, not4hire, Razororange and 3 others Thank this.

Thats extremely light. Sounds like a trailer built for light loads. What is the stated weight rating of the frame rails on the spec sheet?johndeere4020 Thanks this.
-
It's a 90,000 beam rating with 12" cross member spacing. Not a "hay hauler" trailer by any means
-
I'm not sure about that. I've hauled a few loads like that and no problems. Went through a ton of chicken coops as well. I mean I don't want to do anything illegal. I just know for sure you can't go over the back of a 53'. Think 48' you can go over a max of 5' w/o oversize. Not 100% sure. Going to have to check with each state laws before I do another one like that. I see some that stretch the frame not only for the ride but also for overhang in the front.
Anyone know for sure??
Maybe the states that I travel through don't have those laws. -
I can tell you for a fact Ohio will bust you for front overhang on a 53’ trailer. You should know the laws in the states you travel.SAR, spyder7723, not4hire and 4 others Thank this.

Every state has different laws. You really should learn the laws in the states you operate in instead of guessing.spyder7723, Ruthless, Logan76 and 1 other person Thank this.

Yeah you are right. Don't get out that way much.Logan76 Thanks this.

Yeah you are right. I wouldn't call it guessing. I'd call it over trusting a few drivers. But that is no excuse. Haven't done it very much no not super experienced in the OD department.Logan76 Thanks this.

That's why I joined this site, so I could hopefully get more clear answers since sometimes they aren't cut and dry. I've got 5yrs experience in flats and steps. Probably done 5 oversized. 3 with permits and 2 like explained above. 1-2 ft over. I still got a lot of learning to do. I think I know a decent amount but you can never know too much. The day that I stop learning is the day I hang up the keys.
Thanks everyone! And sorry for changing the subject on this thread.LoneCowboy, villageidiot and Logan76 Thank this.
