I took the wrong exit for a truck stop in a construction zone and the end of the off ramp was uphill. I had to take a right turn into a steep downhill. Durring the turn I heard a noise almost like nails on a chalkboard. After the turn I pulled over and inspected the fifth wheel. Everything looked okay aka no cracks or bends. The truck goes down the road fine. That noise just got me a little worried and I'm wondering if there is anything I should check or look out for. Its probably nothing i know but better safe than swifty.... whoops i mean sorry
Did a steep "double incline" turn hurt my truck?

Did you look at anything besides the fifth wheel? Cab fairings, mudflap hangers, quarter fenders etc.?
jammer910Z and CrappieJunkie Thank this. -
Didn' think to check the mud flap hangers which are fine, the fairings are good. The tractor is parallel with the ground.
-
Passenger side too? Damage during a right turn would occur on that side.
-
The noise was probably the frame of the truck against the kingpin plate.
tscottme and BUMBACLADWAR Thank this. -
Check the landing gear too and the dot bar.
-
Do you by chance pull a van trailer? If so, does it have those air dam things under it? I’m thinking something along those lines drug the ground.
If that ain’t it, ya may just need to grease the 5th wheel. -
sounds like landing gear may have drug the ground
jammer910Z, Tb0n3, DirtyhandsMcgee and 2 others Thank this. -
I think you hit the buck in the eye with this. The sound happened right where that part of the trailer was at the crest.

I have done it a few times sounds like some major problems but usually don't hurt anything
DirtyhandsMcgee Thanks this.
