I get loaded in Jacksonville, FL and creep at less than 5mph all the way to LA so i never have to log on duty driving.

If the truckstop is 4 miles away, you can creep right on down there and arrive in only an hour.

What kind of mpg do you get running like that? Do people in Houston get mad at you when you go through there slow like that?

Get away from Cheap & Retarded England as soon as you get them payed off or your commitment to them is over. Get away from refrigerated after that. Find a great company that does picks and drops from 8-5 m-f and its either dry van or flat bed. Yes there are companies that do this. My company 95% of all my picks and drops are when you get there and if you cant make that just tell them when you feel like getting there. I feel for you brother !!! When i had 7 months experience i waz hating life just like you. Hang in there it will get better.

For giggles I assume 2 gallons a hour burn.

5 mph from Jax to LA ca, call it eh.. 2500 miles actual straight down 10 and all it's problems (Biloxi would be no problem on that river bridge in gridlock.. he he he.)

500 hours drive time. 11 hour blocks. 45 days.

throw in 1.5 gallon hour burn as you sleep 10 hours each night...

675 gallons gone in just sleeping. Closer to 700.

1000 gallons plus gone in the driving. so you stand at 1700 gallons times 3.50 a gallon... $6000 in fuel alone.

Then the payroll, truck payment, insurance etc etc etc.

Cass index gives a 1.99 freight average from west coast, and about 2.65 from east coast varies, if a team can run that truck 30000 miles in a month and generate 67000 in revenue back and forth between the two cities. Your 5 mph trip will have to be paid approximately... $42.00 a mile actual to creep completely free from ELD problems.

Practical problems such as starvation of he driver, dehydration within 8 days and so on imposed on a human that wont stop at 5 mph... all the way across... smh. you will go through about a thousand in food and fluids.

I'd show up to a receiver with 5 mins left on my clock if that's what it took to get there. Wally world isn't going to let you park there for a 10 (most of them won't anyway). Lots of receivers don't mind, though, so it never hurts to ask.

Ask your dispatcher what they want you to do if you run out of hours at a receiver and are asked to leave the property.

At Prime, I'm going to put myself off-duty driving and drive somewhere safe to shutdown (at 60 mph or whatever, none of this creeping crap). That's what they want us to do.

A little bit trickier if it's a shipper. Loaded I'm not allowed to use off-duty driving. So I'm going to go on the drive line and drive normally to a safe place to shut down. Pretty rare, but I've done it a few times and once had to go 30 minutes over to get parked (thanks annheuser in Columbus). Folks will hem and haw over doing this (gasp, it's not legal) but I'm a pretty practical guy and that's what I do. I do what I can to avoid being put into that situation, but it happens from time to time.

I just did an unload and pulled up to the gate to leave with 1:05 left on my clock for a 30 min drive. Gate won’t open. Listened to the phone ring In the guard shack for 45 minutes. So I just parked it in their lot. Hope it’s not a problem lol.
