My budget is for 70k because i dont want a payment more then 1500-1700 a month over 5 years period, but I have more funds on the side for emergency repairs and some maintenance, i would not go all in. Thanks for the good advice. Let me get those test results and then we can talk

Because he ran some miles up on it and ordered a new one? The guy needs some tax write offs? Who knows hundreds of thousands of trucks get traded in every 3-4 years nothing crazy about it.

I dont want to deal with those EPA trucks... I spend over 20k last year and Im still getting random check engine lights from time to time... Im afraid to start my truck in the morning. Im done with that. I agree that every truck will have some repairs from time to time but fixing one problem and the next day that same check engine code comes up for no reason... no thanks

Some people trade them in every three or four years for tax purposes, and that's the mileage major and minor things start to happen . I've heard good and bad about the Fitzgerald gliders. I know someone who bought 3
At the same time. 2 were great ,1 pushed a gallon of oil out of the breather everyday. All were Detroit 60's . He had it back and forth tot the dealer. They couldn't figure it out, I don't know what the outcome was since he sold his business soon after .

Went through the same thing with a 2012 W900 with a Cummins ISX 550. Truck was a nitemare of emmisions issues. Constantly at the dealer due to emmisions issues and blew an engine at 300k miles . I knew at least 5 people who had 2012-2013 ISX engines that blew between 200k and 300k miles . They had probllems with the emmisions non stop, ceramic fuel pump plungers coming apart and taking out engines and liner drop ,taking out engines. Thank God it was a company truck. They spent about $60k on out of warranty repairs on that truck in two years and finally took it off the road.
Try $7000 for an ISX turbo! They also had problems with
Injector tubes cracking in the head. Non stop nitemare of an engine.

If it had a pre-2000, it prolly had a cracked head, with fuel dilution.

These older motors did not have air/oil separator, so any increase in oil (either overfill or diesel into crankcase) would result in oil coming out of the breather.

I build a catch can on mine, till I figured out it was a cracked head and not injector seals.

Wrt Glider kits, just get an older one --- MAKE SURE ITS A PRE-2000 motor --- that way you have benefits of both E-log exempt + Non-Emissions

If it's past 2000 i know it wont be elog exempt but i did not know it would have the egr. Than what would the point of a glider be if they have the egr? :/

could be any number of things that Hagee nothing to do with gliders or a 12.7. Fir example:
He decided he wanted to run california or the jersey port.
Its a columbia which are known for cheap plastic interiors and he wanted nicer.
It's an ugly short hood aero and he wanted a good looking truck.
He had a major health issue thart effectively ended his career.
He wasn't making money cause trucking is very competitive and most fail.
His wife gave him an ultimatum the truck or her.
He wanted to be home more to see his kids.
And on and on and on.

Egr didn't appear until 03 model year series 60 detroits. I don't know of anyone using egr engines in gliders. The whole point of a glider is to avoid the ridiculously high cost and unreliable emissions engines.

If it is a Fitzgerald it won’t have an EGR and will likely be a pre-2000 engine. Mine is a 97 Detroit in a 2016 glider. If you get the serial number from the engine and call a Detroit shop they can tell you what year it is.
