I see lots of rigs running around with LEDs in place of the old sealed beams. Has anyone here had much luck with this swap? Any particular brands you’ve had a good experience with? Are they generally plug and play, is there some wiring that needs done? Not going to go out and buy eBay lights since they most often suck. Have some moisture in one of my lights, so as long as I’m changing one I may as well spend the money on something better.

i just saw a story on this on the tv show, Motorweek, yesterday in fact
Headlight Upgrade | MotorWeek
you NEED transformers with the headlights you want, either LED's or some other high powered ones.
you may, or may not be able to do this yourself, and if so, it ain't no 5 minute job.
good luck.
if you have moisture, you very well may have a cracked lens or housing( along the seams where the 2 are glued together) . i have "heard" that in of itself, can be about $500 per side. personally, i'd never buy junkyard units either. no way of knowing how good those are.Last edited: May 6, 2018

I have these......
4"x6" Rectangular LED Headlight, Polycarbonate Lens, Aluminum, Low Beam, 12-24V | Truck-Lite
They are plug and play.... much better than the bs headlights that kenworth puts in their 4 headlight system.
The one large probjen is they pack with snow . The headlights are useless when it’s snowing . It was do bad I took them out and ran regular halogens. I reinstalled the led headlights after snow season was over....
Unless you can deal with this I wouldn’t recommend these headlights...... -
JW Speaker is the best but expensive. Trucklite makes a good one too and they are cheaper. We have the 4x6 heated and 5x7 JW Speaker lights in our two trucks. The road truck has the heated lenses for melting snow off in the winter bc LED lights do not generate heat to melt snow off like halogens or sealed beam. The local truck does not have heated lenses bc if weather is bad it stays in the shed. They are direct factory replacements. No wiring needed. You will be shocked at what you see at night with them. You’ll never turn your brights on again. Got my 4x6 for $216.95 per light. Got lucky and found them on sale. Usually $300 each. I see they are down to $233-$249 nowLast edited: May 6, 2018

When you do the LEDs make sure they're adjusted way too high like all the other jackholes out there running them.
delta5, Luwi67, Gumper and 1 other person Thank this. -
They're great if you know how to align them.
Some knotheads put them in and they're aimed UP like they're hunting squirrels.
Not a good way to make friends.
They are BRIGHT. Be kind.buddyd157 Thanks this. -
Don’t know if I would trust any other heated light but JW Speaker brand.bowhunter67 Thanks this.
