Yup. 11 trips to CAT. 11 times trying to tell them it was sticking injector related but they always pointed their finger at other " non warranty " stuff, which I chased to rule it in or out and go back with proof it wasn't my "tranny" or "plugged exhaust system " etc.

    Oxbow and SAR Thank this.

    Cat does suck.....

.ask them if they’re gonna pay for all those trips into their shop for something that should have been fixed right the third time.....

Moral of the story: It is never a CAT problem according to CAT.

    Well, hindsight is 20/20.
Glad you got your truck up to snuff.
I'd like to hear about that boat ride and driving over in England?
    Take Care Driver!!

Thanks guys for all the support and advice.
easytoplease33, well, i was working for "Kadokee Display" back in the day. I imagine youve gone to a truck show, RV show and sale and similar. This company does it for high dollar companies who set up display stuff for other companies. Example, the art show we did in NY city at a big hall. Picasos, Rembrants and such ,on display, locked up tight behind bullet proof glass in a auditorium or such, for buyers (deep pocket people) with invite to consider purchasing.
Another show, "Off shore Technologies" , Astro hall beside Texas Astro Dome.
Thousands of cubic yards are hauled from Toronto to Houston, coffins of snap together partision walls, couches, chairs, glass cabinets for each of hundreds of vendors, showing their hydraulic boring drills, pneumatic this, floating island that, any and everything for off shore drilling for a 3 day show. I would haul it all down from Toronto ( and a dozen other trucks).Back up to the dock and unhook, drive the truck to park it, cab to a high end hotel (all paid for), camp out 3 days, swim, eat etc. If all ok, hook up to the trailer where the empty coffins are stored and for a week the show goes on so im flown back to Toronto, jump in another rig and off to California where the same happens. Fly me from California to ny city where the show is now over, back up the rig to the dock and union guys disassemble the show, load it all, and after three paid days (food at $12 breakfast, $12 lunch and $25 dinner given in cash to me for the days im gone...i pocketed the cash and grabbed buns and sliced meat, it was my cash to do as i plesed)
Anyhow, after three days id put it in the wind, haul it back to Toronto, by the time i got there, the show was over in NY city, fly me there and back the trailer to the dock and union guys load it up as they disassemble the show, i do as i please, paid $120 /day (back in 1988 that was serious cash.
now, england was just another stop / another show as described above.
Hope this answers your question, i know, its a long one.
I quit because i was only home 2 weeks in 75 days, not good for a newly wed !!

    Sounds like pretty easy duty.
I had a similar offer hauling equipment for a traveling road show.
Sounded pretty cake, but, didn't like the sound of being out on the road for months at a time.
So, I stayed with my weekly milk run. Not as much fun, I suppose, but I'm only out for 4 days and home for 3.
    Take care My Friend.

Ya. I hear ya. Big bucks on that run I had done and I even felt important for a while, getting on planes , living the high life. A customs agent even questioned me why I travelled so much on planes, what education I had etc.
I personally thought it was funny when I said I almost passed grade 10, I'm dumb as a turnip and make just over $100k yearly. ( 30+ years ago that was HUGE HUGE bucks. It is now also but more so back in the day) My laughing face tonned down with his stiff expression .
But money isn't everything, and I work to live not vice versa . So I packed it in.
The company even offered to pay my wife to travel with Me, as my "secretary"
at $45 k / year. But she was already well employed.
    Take care my friend .

Hello Dan, this is Troy here from Alberta, We spoke on the phone a few times. I'm happy to see it was injectors causing your stumble as my pops and I suspected that's what is causing the same for my 6NZ after a platinum rebuild.

Well, your all not gonna believe this because i dont. My issue returned and now im running higher coolant temps now also. Nothing huge, just climbs faster than normal when it runs rough.
Get off the throttle on a mild down roll for 5 seconds and back on the throttle and it runs tip top again. The way i picture it in my head (so yall can understand my issue) is this:
I pull heavy (140,000 ) and if highway speed traffic comes to a quick slow down and i back down to, lets say, 45 mph, followed by immediately back on the throttle full force, engine runs horribly rough / power is low, and trying to get back to 65 mph means foot to floor /rough pulling going no faster at all. But, if 65mph traffic drops to the same 45 mph and stays that way for 20 seconds or more, followed by everyone back to 65 mph thereafter, she will pull hard, smooth and fast again.
Heres another example. Come to a stop on any road of good speed (45 / 55/65 mph) and ALWAYS the truck pulls fantastic through the bottom gears. But soon as shifting is prolonged, which is the case when you get into top range (11th to 18th), and more torque / fuel is needed and she really needs to work between shifting up, stumbling etc returns.
Never have i had an issue in the bottom range because of quicker shifting needs, its always in the top set of gears.
Or,,,, Im on the fast road, exit a ramp /curve and slow down going around the curve to get on another fast highway. Soon as im straight again and need to jump on it to increase road speed to merge into freeway speed traffic, the engine eats the fuel just fine, and pulls great with foot to floor. Engine temp doesnt climb much relative to the need for power, nothing like how the coolant temp climbs when a rapid speed drop / re acceleration is needed .
Heres another mystery symptom that makes zero sense to me. After 11 hours truckin, all symptoms are 99% gone !!
What the ,,,,heck is goin on ?
With all sensors changed, all harnesses on the CAT side of the ECM, fuel lines, divider and divertor valves, fuel pressure regulator valve, tanks dropped to check suction and return tubes, exhaust torn down to check for blockage, CAT just put 6 new (reman im sure) injectors in weeks ago, CAT loaned me a brand new ECM for a few weeks, new fuel pump, etc... Im lost guys.
The only thing im thinking is either internal issue (i have CAT platinum warranty yet) or theres a wiring fault coming to the OEM side of the ECM (like a power supply /ground supply or ??) If i understand correctly, thees 3 power supplies to the 6NZ CAT ECM. One directly from the batteries, a 2nd from the inner left frame rail 140 amp power fuse / junction, next to the left steer tire, and a 3rd power supply but i cant seem to find the exact location, im told its "KEYED IGNITION" but thats a wide open topic. Is that directly from the back of the key switch ? or perhaps a power relay activated by the key switch ? or other ??
Im also thinking a wire compromised feeding the ECM coming from the THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR, which is also new, which has about 12 inches of wire on the throttle position sensor and then plugs into the continuation to the next wire set which i believe goes to the ECM thereafter.
DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY INPUT WHICH WOULD HELP ME RESOLVE THIS ISSUE ? Its now been almost 2 years of struggling with this problem, and everyone wants to throw parts at it, which i have no qualms opening my wallet, but its so mind boggling how such a simple engine (which a 6NZ actually is, even the ECM programming is very simple ) can cause such a unresolveable problem.
I have offered a $1000 reward to the person who supplies the info to me which rectifies this problem, but to date, no takers, and i am A MAN OF MY WORD...I WILL 100% PAY UP !!
Thanks guys. Hope theres a remedy out there, somewhere.
My cell number, if you prefer texting or calling me, is : 905 746 5505
    With thanks.

Cutting injector seats, would be a good idea. I've fixed many like yours.
