I used lucas for many years. Got an old series 60 engine. Never had any issue. Does increased the fuel mileage.

Just bought my first truck and was talking to an older trucker who mentioned I should drain the diesel in my fuel filter and put marvel mystery oil to clean my injectors. I’ve actually heard this a few times. Does it work? I drive a 2011 cascadia dd13

I have no idea how well any of them work or whether it is worth it. I will say that the number of commercial customers that want me to treat their fuel year round continues to increase.

Power Service blends seem to be the most popular for year round. Diesel Guard gets used a lot for just winter. A few use Howes. I've yet to see anyone use a Lucas product for a fleet.

I run Howes if the temps fall below 15 even if I know the tanks in the ground are treated. I've never froze up adhering to their temperature treatment rates and my truck never gets plugged in.

I was having problems starting my truck so I asked a mechanic. He said use ATF and then I asked the question here. Seems like old school trick but I tried it and it worked. The truck starts instantly I am getting better fuel economy also. Not sure what it did but old school always seems to know the remedy.

In reference to old school remedies, you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink.

ATF has a lotta detergents in it an it more than likely cleaned the injectors.

Same here, Power Service is worth a 1/2mog for my truck. I can’t explain it, but if run naked or Howe’s i get get worse fuel miles. So i put a bottle in every fill up. I’ve found it cheaper to buy at Walmart, tho watch the truck stop adds. Sometimes they can have some pretty good offers on it.

Im sure many of you have seen this study.

Lubricity Additive Study Results - Diesel Place : Chevrolet and GMC Diesel Truck Forums

20% bio makes a huge difference in my powerstroke.

When I’m in LA, SF, or SJ I use Propel Diesel HPR fuels. I’m not sure how you guys would get your rigs in to the ones I visited. My mileage, power, and how smooth the engine runs is impressive.

Renewable Fuels | Flex Fuel E85 | Diesel HPR - Propel Fuels

Propel is often less expensive compared to regular diesel #2. They have an app you can download to see prices and availability. I think it only available in. California right now.

If you have a Davco type fuel filter (clear bowl) which I believe all the new DD Engines have then drain the bowl like you are changing the fuel filter and fill it up with ATF. Truck will start and run on ATF .

A word of warning ATF contains dye and some will reach the tank via bypass. It is conceivable it could be detected if they check your tanks for off road fuel.

PS It used to be standard procedure for many shops to prime fuel system with ATF when doing the PM
