@Frank Speak
This is an old post that you may find helpful
You driven Volvo? -
It ain't being uneducated, it's being a real truck driver, and a man. I guess it goes like the rest of society today, and must have a machine do the work for them due to laziness, and needing technology do everything for them. Good luck with those sissy trucks and transmissions. When the electronics go down when your going down Snowqualamie, Cabbage, Cajon summit, and so forth. Good luck.

Don't some of the autos put it in neutral going downhill, thought I read that on here somewhere.
-
I know the DT12 does.
-
I may be wrong but doesn't say not to do that in the cdl manual?
-
I dunno man. I never learned to read.
-
Ok I can smell the sarcasm coming off of that one.
-
Ok yeah I'm pretty sure you're right.
And when I first started diving an automated tranny, it freaked me out. A lot. It's very unnerving. But I imagine it saves a ton of fuel.
The only problems I had with the DT12 is that until it's temp is up to about 90 or so, it's very prone to gear searching or just plain staying in N. So yeah, warm that machine up before driving it. -
It's called Georgia Overdrive. It is illegal, immoral, and a not so smart move. If caught, the fines and consequences can be stiff. Over the years, many drivers have lost brakes, due to this practice, as the weight is pushing the truck to speeds to high to control. ll i can say, is if automatics are your thing, this is those persons opinion, and preference. I prefer to have total control of the truck i drive. This is my opinion and preference.
