GOD #### this is one beautiful route.

Taking it right now, had a hazmat load going from SLC to pheonix. Then I get to drop and hook in pheonix and bring an empty right back up to the shipper. I was really tempted to just drive my truck off into the wilderness and camp out, ahaha.

Follow the GPS blindly and take your rig up onto a historic landmark like the Anasazi Cliffs or maybe into Arches National Park!

That is a nice run, I have done it many times. Plenty of areas to stop along the way and get a good nights rest.

Oh yes, always nice places to stop! And the GPS is always a good excuse to head on up to Arches and park near the tunnel....

All those people who made the news for bringing a tractor trailer into the middle of nowhere, we had it all wrong ... never gave them the credit they deserved. They were due for a 34 and were just sick and tired of the truck stops. Probably did it 100 times before, and when they goofed up that one time they had to make a quick excuse. The gps doesnt have feelings, he's always a good sport about taking the blame! Lol

That's a beautiful drive. I've done it a few times. Utah has some of my favorite scenery. Stopped at a rest stop west of Denver on the 70 a couple years ago. Got out and stretched my legs and walked to the edge of a cliff that dropped several hundred feet into what looked like a small Grand Canyon. Nature is amazing.

I like snapping pics of the scenery and wildlife when the opportunity comes up.

My first trip in a truck was SLC to Phoenix down 89. Nice drive to start a career.

Is it worth the extra 20 miles to stay on 89 rather than taking 89 Alt? I've done the 89A drive a few times and it's been pretty enjoyable but this time of year I would imagine all the RV's and sightseers would make it less enjoyable.

I didnt take the alt. When I looked on the map it looked like the alt route had a ton of curves and stuff, so I figured it would probably be real slow going through there. The main route even had plenty of tourists but at least you get a passing lane every few miles, and besides the small towns and snaking through the mountains it was pretty wide open.
